Letter From the Editor

Greetings Brothers,

I am writing to share my plan for producing and distributing a high-quality blog for our chapter that will include information about events and activities and increase engagement and communication among members. I believe that this blog is an excellent tool for fostering the ideal of brotherhood in the "House" and I value the comments made by many of you. For that reason, I decided to focus on this year's adding value to the chapter by using the blog to start a conversation between us. I appreciate the feedback that many of you offered. That motivated me to center our Blog on my annual goals this year. I plan to convert the Blog into a monthly blog so that we can have more of a two-way conversation. I’m hoping to reach at least 75% of the chapter's members and receive positive feedback from at least 50% of readers, by the meeting every month. I see this community of honorable men as the greatest asset the house has given to me, so with that said I will ask you to hold me to that goal.

  • To be able to write about chapter events, I must attend the majority of them and arrange for coverage when I cannot attend.

  •  For my articles to be engaging, I will need feedback (i.e., constructive criticism) and the participation of others willing to add their voices. Here are the guidelines for submitting articles for Review for the Chapters Blog:

  1. All members are encouraged to submit articles for review to be included in the chapter's Blog.

  2.  Articles should be inclusive, representing diverse perspectives and voices within the fraternity.

  3.  Articles should be uplifting and contribute positively to the public narrative of the chapter.

  4.  All submissions should be original works created by the member submitting them.

  5.  Submissions should be in a word document format and sent to the designated email or person in charge of the Blog.

  6.  Articles will be reviewed by the designated committee or person in charge of the Blog to ensure they align with the fraternity's values and mission.

  7. The author will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of the article and given feedback on how to improve the article if needed.

  8. If an article is accepted, the author will be given a publication date and the article will be edited for grammar, punctuation, and style before publication.

  9. The author is responsible for any fact-checking and accuracy of information presented in their article, and the article should not be more than 1200 words.

  10. The final decision for publication rests with the designated committee or person in charge of the Blog.

  • If you don’t see our Blog hold me accountable, respectfully of course.

I want to make sure that our Blog is inclusive, representing diverse perspectives and voices within the fraternity, and that it is uplifting and contributes positively to the public narrative of the chapter. When your great great grandchildren research who you are I want them to read your words as a part of our collective identity.

I am looking forward to your support and engagement in this endeavor. Together, we can create a Blog that serves as an important tool for fostering the ideal of brotherhood in the "House."

Sincerely,

Bro. Dexter Egleston
