Assembly member Akila Weber is hosting the annual backpack giveaway on Saturday, August 13th from 10am-1pm. In addition to backpacks being filled supplies and sanitation-kits to prepare for the school year, there will also be a free vaccination clinic, free bike helmet fittings and helmets, and much more!

Each year, the North San Diego County NAACP and its partners raise funds to purchase backpacks and school supplies for school-aged students in North San Diego County and present them at a fun-filled free give-a-way event.

Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD) will host its 34th annual Stand Down at Roosevelt Middle School on July 30th offering immediate intervention support to at-risk and homeless veterans. The Veterans Stand Down event was founded by Bro. John Smith, a Vietnam Veteran and longtime leader in San Diego's military community.
