BLACK MEN’S
MENTAL HEALTH FORUM
Thank you to everyone who participated in the February 15th event. Here is a link to video highlights from the online forum.
African Americans make up just 13.7% of the U.S. population, yet 16% of African Americans reported having a mental illness last year, and 22% reported a serious mental illness. Shockingly, the 3rd leading cause of death in black men in this country between ages 18-25 is suicide.
The primary objectives of the forum are to destigmatize discussions around Black Mental Health, provide a safe space for Black men to discuss challenging topics, and offer tools and culturally competent resources, hotlines, and therapists to assist them and their families when needed.
